STANDING

AT THE

DOOR

I take a lot of inspiration from art director Alberto Mielgo. In one of his interviews he mentioned that to create his earlier animations, he had used Adobe After Effects which I didn’t really think was possible since I had been using Adobe for years to create video edits with dramatic effects and zooms and spins. Almost a year into animation and I can say that It’s not at all fun keyframing every shadow and highlight, anchoring the arms and masking out shapes. In fact most of the time I HATE it. But I love it so much that I hate it, and I can’t stop. There’s no feeling like seeing the world you put together, and immediately there’s a hunger to make more. I wasn’t sure what this project meant when I created it, but now I understand that I’m just trying to make films through animation in a weird way, and maybe these short animations could be trailers, or concepts for something bigger. Created April, 2025.
